# Research a purchase

Find the product that fits the user's use case. Research does not authorize buying it.

## Start from the use

Use the stated budget, country, intended use, compatibility constraints, size, and must-haves. Ask only about constraints that would change the shortlist. Don't default to a retailer or brand when the user has no preference.

## Compare like with like

1. Search current manufacturer and retailer pages. Verify the exact model, generation, variant, size, and condition; similarly named listings may be different products.
2. Check delivered price in the user's currency, including shipping and known taxes. Label missing fees and record when the price was checked.
3. Prefer manufacturer specifications for technical claims. Cross-check consequential compatibility or performance claims with an authoritative source or a credible test.
4. Read reviews for recurring, relevant failure patterns. Separate verified specification, tested observation, and subjective review. Don't treat a star rating as proof of reliability.
5. Check seller identity, warranty region, returns, availability, and delivery estimate. Distinguish marketplace sellers from the manufacturer or retailer itself.

## Recommend a small shortlist

Return around three options when the market supports it, with direct links, exact model names, delivered cost, fit for the use case, and the main compromise. Explain what the cheaper choice gives up and whether the more expensive option earns its price.
